Color Me Cool: Colorful Hair

While watching the Fall New York Fashion Week shows, I have noticed that there is a resurgance of colorful hair on models on the runways. I have always loved colorful hair and like the idea of self expression through dyeing your hair! Going bleach blonde is nothing new, but it has never felt so fresh for this Spring. These are some of my favorite colorful hair looks over the years.

Bleached Blondie

Kelly Bundy circa 1990 is probably most iconic fashion bleach blonde that I can think of. It makes us want to grab the peroxide.

Pink Baby

During the Pre-Fall 2014 Fashion Shows, Giambatista Valli featured a model with baby pink colored hair and it gave me nostalgia to Gwen Stefani’s pink hair circa Return of Saturn (we all remember No Doubt’s Simple Kind of Life music video).

Hate it or love it, Nicki Minaj brought pink hair on the hip hop map.

Auburn Reds and Browns

Going dark red or brown for Spring is the perfect transition from winter. It feels good to change!

My fellow fashionista friend Kimmy recently went dark brown and rocks it for Spring!

If dyeing your hair isn’t your preference, or you want something less permanent for change, try expressing yourself with different colors or styles of outfits that you wouldn’t normally. I love how these women express themselves with colorblocking:

I Heart Music: Sevyn Streeter

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love music.  Music really inspires a lot of things and makes my world go ’round.  It influences a lot of my fashion choices.   I’ve loved this artist named Sevyn Streeter voice since I heard her sing on Chris Brown’s songs like Don’t Judge Me, She Ain’t You, and her own songs It Won’t Stop and I Like It. Her EP called Call Me Crazy, But….. is definitely a banger!  Between her song lyrics, voice, fashion style and good production behind her, she’s sure to do big things.  Everyone check her out!

Style Check: How To Rock Color in Fall!

Fall/Winter is in full swing and as the cold comes in, so do dark and muted colors such as greens, grays, black, and browns.

image

Behzad “The man” breaks the Fall rules by incorporating pop colors into his outfit.  This is how you can colorblock an outfit by using your accessories to either use pop colors to excite your outfit or by using muted colors to subdue a bright colored outfit.  The colors don’t have to match, matching is overrated!  Do make sure they compliment each other in someway.  Way to have fun with your wardrobe, B!

Behzad wears shirt and pants by Calvin Klein, tie from Tommy Hilfiger, and shoes by Cole Haan.

Don’t Call It A Comeback: Fre$h Fades

After four to five years of shaving my head bald with a zero notch with clippers, I decided to switch it up and grow my hair out again.  I always rocked either a long afro especially during the summer (its the hippie in me!) or a bald fade when I was younger, so I decided to go with the latter and rock a fade!  Now the question was, how do I decide what kind of fade do I get?

                  Low Bald Fade

This is the cut i’m similarly rocking now.  This cut is good for someone with a larger sized head because the fade begins farther back on your head and makes it appear a little smaller.

Rihanna started a movement all over again for women       worldwide

The high/high and tight bald fade just begins right behind your head and suits people with smaller sized heads and has a more extreme feel because its more head that is exposed.

I didn’t realize how popular the fade haircut has gotten over the past year, especially with the explosion of 1990s nostalgia everywhere in the mainstream nowadays. I love it because I have a huge connection and love for all things 90s! It’s all about how you rock it and have fun with your hair!
